The Russian Nesting Doll Clutterer
You can trace your cluttering style back generationally. If you circled every person on your family tree who struggles with clutter...let's just say there would be a whole lot of circles. Your family of origin may have a history of loss due to war, moving countries, or health issues. Holding on to the items they had was important then, but now it's a bad habit you don't want to pass on to the next generation.
The Mirror Clutterer
It's hard to get rid of things because they are a part of your identity. If you let go of them...you lose a part of yourself. You've collected items like shoes, things with turtles on them, or shot glasses forever now. These are a part of who you are and your friends and family think of you when they see these items. Decluttering means having to rediscover yourself...or does it?
The Dreamer Clutterer
Why get rid of something when you may need it one day? The Dreamer Clutterer can "dream" up several scenarios to support why they need to keep an item. Worst part is after they declutter, that scenario will more than likely happen because they subcounsciously make it happen. It's hard for this declutterer to remind themselves of this and keeping moving forward after a good decluttering of their home.
The Keeping Up with the Joneses Clutterer
The clutter you have is all about status. It's important to have the newest edition, the next series, and of course it doesn't hurt to have 2 or 3 of each of those items. Identity is all about what you have and it's even better if it's something others don't have yet.
The Penny Pincher Clutterer
You are good at squeezing the value out of something...even if it means keeping it till it's completely falling apart (but of coursethat just means it can be fixed and continued to be used). You may even have a box, drawer, or whole room filled with items that need to be fixed so you can keep using those things. It makes you feel guilty to let go of items that you still see having value.
The Warm Blanket Clutterer
Items bring you comfort and you typically keep them out around you. You like a space that looks "lived in" though others may call it messy or cluttered. Letting go of the clutter creates empty spaces and that is not comfortable at all! You may find it's a reflection of the struggles you feel inside as well. It's easier to fill ourselves with food, things to do, or things around us then feel the emptiness we may be experiencing in our lives.
The Super Size It Clutterer
You like to have more. Not for status. Not for comfort. Just to have more. You have the space, why not fill it? This cluttering style is a bit apathetic to the decluttering movement and may only change due to financial reasons or a family member's request.
